We’ve come on quickly over the last four years thanks to our fantastic customers! Take a look at our story from Matthew’s first hives to today where we have over 120 hives throughout Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire!
Matthew’s First Hive
Just Before Matthew’s 21st Birthday he got his first hive. Even now when he is asked why he started beekeeping he isn’t too sure, just a random hobby… that soon grew!
Matthew’s First Honey Harvest
Later that first year Matthew harvested his first 9 jars of honey under the watchful eye of his mum and grandparents who all came to watch the spectical! After trying those first jars of honey he was totally hooked and started thinking about producing even more honey the next year!
Matthew Graduated And Went Full Time
After graduting in accounting Matthew took the plunge and went full time with his beekeeping, expanding the number of hives and offering beekeeping experiences to those who were interested in having a go at beekeeping
Our New Honey Room Was Built
Through the winetr while the bees were busy keeping warm we were busy converting the old diary tank room to become a great honey extracting and bottling facility! Over 15,000 jars a year are processed there now, although some of our equipment has been upgraded since then!
Our Beekeeping Exeperiences Were Launched
We launched our beekeeping experiences which have become really popular! we do over 50 courses every summer now, even during Covid 19 in 2020 we managed to do some experiences!
Matthew Went To Australia To Learn Commercial Beekeeping
Matthew spent the winter in Australia, learning beekeeping on a different scale. There He and 3 others looked after 2,500 hives, A totally different type of beekeeping to here in the UK but he found lots of great ideas and techniques that he uses now with his own bees!
Honey Packing Took Off
We started using our honey room to help otehrs process and pack their honey, in 2021 we expect to process over 15,000 jars for other beekeepers and honmey brands!
Our Bees Went On A Road Trip!
We took our bees all the way up to Sheffield to get Heather honey for the first time, it proved so popular that we will be taking 3 times more hives in 2021 than we did the first year!
Our New Honey Room Is Finished!
In October 2021 we opened our new honey room, hampered by a lack of space over the previous 6months it became clear that to process our honey and expand the packing side of the business for other beekeepers we would need more space. Our new honey room allows us to warm more honey ready for bottling in 2 purpose built warming pods and gives us ample space for storage!
