Beekeeping can be a really steep learning curve and there’s plenty of great books and youtubers but nothing beats getting hands on and gaining first hand experience.
We know lots of people who have done a beginners course somewhere, got the bees but just don’t quite feel confident enough with their inspections. This session is ideal if you’re in that situation.
This is a flexible one to one session lasting around an hour and half designed to answer your questions and build your confidence in an pressure free environment. There’s absolutely no expectation of a certain level of knowledge and we will work with you so you leave this session much more confident in your beekeeping
You’ll be checking the bees with Matthew who started Holt Hall Apiary and has 4 years commercial beekeeping experience. He will be happy to answer questions on any aspect of beekeeping you need help with.
You’ll arrive we will have a drink and chat about what you’re hoping to gain from the session and then get suited up and straight out to the hives we will check at least 2 or 3 hives and maybe more depending on time.
The date can be arranged after booking your space as it’s a one-to-one course. We will email you within a day or two of your order.
Cost varies depending on the day you’d like to visit us but it’s ideally suited to an afternoon or evening between April and September.
Please bring wellies or boots.
The session is weather dependant- Should the weather forecast be bad we will look to move the course to a alternative date as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend the alternative date you will be offered a refund.
Cancellations within 2 weeks of the date will not be refunded.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult at all times, the minimum age is 14.
Although we will be wearing protective clothing there is the possibility of getting stung so if you know you are allergic to bee stings please do not book this course. We recommend bringing wellies to keep your ankles protected.
